postheadericon How Does a Car Rental Work?

A car rental is a vehicle that can be used temporarily for a fee. Most people get one after an accident or during a vacation.

Why? Getting a rental car helps them get around despite the fact they do not have access to their own personal vehicle or don’t own a vehicle at all. It is a convenience that provides transportation for thousands of people each year.

The individual who needs a car must contact a rental car company and contract out for a vehicle. This can be done online, over the phone or in the office of the rental company.

At this point, this person has to communicate to a car rental agent about several things: dates of rental, type of rental car, and desired price.

After these details are worked out, the individual renting the car must show a valid driver’s license, sign a contract and determine if the rental will be picked up by him or delivered to another address.

The process is very straightforward. Usually, complications only arise in regards to fees.

Several fees are attached to a car rental. The basic fees charged by the average rental car company are a flat fee, tax, insurance and mileage.

All of these charges vary state to state. Most people who rent cars have no problem with the flat fees, which are the basic rate to rent the car.

The fees charged for insurance, mileage, gas and clean up are more complicated. These charges can double the costs for a car rental.

Most rental car companies won’t allow a person under the age of 21 to rent a car. This fact has to do with basic statistics.

Teens have a much higher rate of car accidents than older drivers. This might cause rental companies to pay out more for damages to their vehicles.

Also, the cost of their insurance option would increase exponentially, driving away customers.

Overall, car rentals work because life is full of uncertainties that make a need for them continuous.

Vacations, auto accidents and moving cause most people to call a rental car company at least once in their life. It’s a convenience that helps people keep moving forward.
