Fleet of BMW Cars Will Be Transporting Athletes at London 2012
At part of its sponsorship deal with the Olympics, BMW will provide a fleet of 4000 eco-friendly vehicles that will be used to organise all transportation arrangements at the Games. In recognition of its role, the company will earn the right to be the official Automotive Partner for London 2012.
In this responsible and demanding role, BMW will perform a number of important tasks that will help to keep the Olympics safe for participants as well as for the environment. Among other roles, the company will provide:
- A fleet of 4000 redesigned vehicles from BMW Series 1 to accommodate all transportation needs for athletes, trainers, referees, officials and guests at the Games
- An insurance that transportation in BMW cars will help to reduce overall release of harmful gasses into the atmosphere during the London 2012 Games
- Institutional support for socially responsible goals of the Olympics through media advertising, press releases and internet promotion
- Assistance for a large number of athletes who are aspiring to reach the Olympic Games through BMW Performance Programme
- Special support for the Paralympics in addition to more prominent role with the main London 2012 event
Since the company is the Automotive Partner of the Olympics, BMW cars will be prominently featured in the media in the upcoming months. In order to prepare the mass audiences for the approaching Olympics and to announce its affiliation with this highly respected sports gathering, BMW already released a 30-second video advertisement shot with beautiful beaches of Wales as backdrop. In the video (available on YouTube if you follow this link), a BMW M5 can be seen in close-up action as it draws a figure of an athlete in the sand. There is no doubt that BMW looks forward to the opportunity to connect its brand with Olympic values and this video looks like an excellent start in that direction.
