HID Kits

Over the past two decades one of the most amazing things to happen to the automobile lighting industry has been advancements made with new headlights. The most remarkable has been the HID, or high intensity discharge bulb. This is a highly efficient headlight designed to expand what the driver is able to see when they are driving at night, offering a wider and farther area of vision. This is accomplished through the heating of a special gas called xenon.

The HID first came on to market back in 1991 when BMW introduced the 7 Series, which has since evolved to be offered for countless other vehicle models both old and new. Regardless of whether you are installing it on a classic Mustang or utilizing Mercedes HID kits, these have been an exciting and welcome addition to the industry.

Mercedes HID kits are very popular because of their energy efficiency compared to the standard halogen bulb; however there has been some concern as to its legality. The truth is there is nothing wrong with using HID lights, you simply need to know your limitations, which are governed by the temperature in which you are running them.

Each HID light can vary in their color and intensity based upon the Kelvin (k) temperature that it is generating. If a driver can keep the range between 4300K to 6000K then they will have a softer yellow to glowing blue color that is perfectly legal and safe. The higher the temperature goes the more intense the light will be. Anything above the 6000K has the potential to turn to a bright purple light deemed to be too intense and as a consequence will potentially get you fined.

When used correctly, Mercedes HID kits can help protect you against the challenging darkness. When considering installing a set, remember that nearly 90% of the information we use while driving comes from what we can see.

When driving at night, why would you use inferior traditional halogen bulbs if you have a far superior option? Even though there are as much as 60% less drivers on the road at night, accidents that occur during this time are far more dangerous. Statistics show that as much as 40% of those involved in accidents during this time will be killed. You can reduce those odds dramatically by casting a stronger more efficient light from an HID bulb.
