Frankfurt 2011: Mercedes Benz and Infiniti Together to Create a New Compact
The agreement was confirmed yesterday at the Frankfurt Motor Show: one group consisting of Renault-Nissan and the other, neither more nor less than Daimler AG. It follows that the luxury car brand Infiniti Japanese immediately receive the benefits of this agreement.
Infiniti is doing badly needs a good start in the automotive market of the European continent (which is specifically required in the streets to a Compact Premium) and it will be used in a longer production platforms Mercedes Benz (particularly those aimed at the production of cars with front wheel drive).
Infiniti model derived from this collaboration will be directly based on the conceptual model Etherea (pictured on the note) and will be marketed only in 2014, with variants available with diesel and gasoline engines.
One of the rumors are sounding louder is the possibility that this car ended up being produced in Europe, which has not been confirmed yet.
The coming to market this model would mean a radical change in the way of marketing products Infiniti. The thing would be pretty similar to what has happened to Lexus brand when to launch the CT 200h, with very good eyes saw how they shot up sales to levels never before suspected.
Meanwhile, Andy Palmer, Nissan’s executive vice president in Europe, argues that this car to market, almost 40% of sales of the Infiniti brand models in the old continent derived from it.
The scope of this agreement are not limited to this future production model (which many call CX right now), but it also would produce a series of electric cars, as well as generate a small van to the house Mercedes Benz Germany, which would be based directly on the Renault Kangoo.
As we have seen the news appeared in the Frankfurt Motor Show have not only been reflected in the different stands of the brands, but also have a projection into the future. This, which in this note has been occupied, is one of those many cases.
